Sir Ridley Scott announced today Porcelain Unicorn directed by American filmmaker Keegan Wilcox as the best short film in Philips’ Tell It Your Way filmmaking competition.
Tell It Your Way is a global filmmaking project launched by Philips and director/producer Sir Ridley Scott inspired by a Cannes Lion’s short film awardee, “Parallel Lines” which only used a six-line dialogue.
From 600 hundred entries around world, five entries were chosen according to the film’s original storytelling, use of the Parallel Lines dialogue and technical achievement. Sir Ridley Scott said that Porcelain Unicorn was chosen as best film because of its “very strong narrative; very complete story that was well told and executed.”
Inspired by the wartime stories of Wilcox grandfather, Porcelain Unicorn is about a man’s traumatic recollections of Holocaust and his friendship with a Jewish girl who was in hiding during the war which features the interplay of performances, photography and art direction.
Aside from the recognition, Wilcox will have an opportunity to work at Ridley Scott Associates (RSA) offices, seven night accommodation, cash allowance and Philip’s Platinum series Full HD 3D TV. Porcelain Unicorn will also enjoy a global exposure as it appears on the phillips.com website.
French director Cedric Petitcollin’s slapstick comedy received the People’s Choice award. He will also receive a Philips Platinum TV, RSA film premiere VIP tickets for either London or New York, and three night accommodation with cash allowance.
